“Science has disproven God. Evolution and the Big Bang explain everything without needing a Creator.”

Science explains how nature works, but naturalism has no good explanation for why the universe began, why its laws are finely tuned for life, or where the coded information in DNA came from.

💡 Ask them back“If you were walking along a desolate beach and found an intricate Swiss mechanical watch ticking in the sand, would you conclude that wind and erosion assembled it over millions of years?”

“If God is all-good and all-powerful, why is there so much suffering, cancer, and tragedy in the world?”

The Problem of Evil: calling anything truly evil assumes an objective moral standard, and God has answered evil at the Cross without destroying human free agency.

💡 Ask them back“When you call something 'evil' or 'unfair', by what objective moral standard are you judging it? In a purely godless universe of blind physical matter, how can anything be objectively evil rather than just chemically inconvenient?”

🔬 Skeptic

“The resurrection of Jesus is just a mythological legend copied from pagan mystery cults or invented by grieving disciples.”

A handful of historical facts granted by most scholars—including skeptics—is best explained by Jesus' bodily resurrection: His death by crucifixion, the empty tomb, the appearances, and the transformation of disciples and skeptics.

💡 Ask them back“Why would the disciples, who fled and hid when Jesus was arrested, suddenly risk beatings, prison, and execution insisting they had seen, touched, and eaten with the risen Jesus? People will die for what they believe is true—but who dies for a lie they know they invented?”

🔬 Skeptic

“Who created God? If everything needs a cause, then God must have a creator too!”

The law of causality says that whatever BEGINS to exist has a cause. God, by definition, never began—He is uncaused, eternal, and the ground of all being.

💡 Ask them back“If a line of dominoes is falling, can that line extend backwards into an infinite past? If there were an infinite number of dominoes before this one, could the present domino ever fall? Doesn't there have to be an Unmoved First Mover who pushed the first domino?”

“The Old Testament condones slavery, genocide, and cruelty. Your God is a moral monster.”

Read honestly and in context, the Law restrained a fallen ancient institution—making kidnapping a capital crime, protecting servants, and granting runaways asylum. The Canaanite wars were a specific judgment on atrocities like child sacrifice, not racial genocide.

💡 Ask them back“Did you know that Exodus 21:16 commands the death penalty for kidnapping a human being and selling him? The transatlantic slave trade was built on exactly that crime. And if you believe slavery is objectively wrong—as I do—where does that moral standard come from?”

🔬 Skeptic

“I can be good without God. Secular empathy and humanism are all we need for morality.”

The issue is not whether atheists can act morally, but whether objective moral values and duties can exist without a transcendent Lawgiver.

💡 Ask them back“I agree you can be a wonderful, moral person! But my question is: in a godless universe of blind atomic collisions, why is human kindness objectively GOOD, and why is murder objectively WRONG, rather than just subjective personal preference?”

“Faith is just believing something without evidence. I prefer reason and science.”

Biblical faith (pistis) is not a blind leap but trust based on evidence—the apostles pointed to eyewitness testimony and "many infallible proofs" (Acts 1:3). And everyone, atheists included, exercises trust every day.

💡 Ask them back“When you sit in a chair, board a plane, or take medicine your doctor prescribes, is that blind faith—or trust based on evidence? The Bible's word for faith means that second kind: trust in someone who has proven reliable. So what evidence would you need to trust Jesus?”

🔬 Skeptic

“Religion is just a crutch for weak people. You only believe because you're scared of death and want to feel comforted.”

Whether a belief comforts us tells us nothing about whether it is true—and that cuts both ways. The real question is whether Jesus rose from the dead. And a Gospel that begins by calling us guilty is a strange kind of wishful thinking.

💡 Ask them back“If I pointed out that atheism can be comforting too—no judgment, no one to answer to—would that prove atheism false? So isn't the real question not why either of us believes, but whether what we believe is actually true?”

🔬 Skeptic

“You're only a Christian because you were born in a Christian country. If you'd been born in India you'd be Hindu, and in Saudi Arabia you'd be Muslim.”

Where we grew up explains how we first heard an idea, not whether it is true—and the same logic applies to the skeptic's own views. Christianity was not born in the West, and faith in Christ cannot be inherited: every person must investigate and decide.

💡 Ask them back“That's true of a lot of beliefs—maybe yours too. If you'd been raised in a devout family in another country, you might not be a skeptic. Would that make your view false? So how could we find out which belief is actually true, whatever country we were born in?”
