2 – Faith to Believe
Bible Verses
Matthew 17:20 – “So Jesus said to them, ‘Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (NKJV)
Mark 9:24 – “Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!’” (NIV)
Mark 11:22-24 – “Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, “Go, throw yourself into the sea,” and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.’” (NIV)
Romans 10:17 – “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (NKJV)
Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (NIV)
Hebrews 11:6 – “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (NIV)
Discussion
Faith is believing that Jesus is who He says He is, and that we can do what He says He can do. And that His Word is true. The Bible is filled with testimonies of people who were healed and delivered because of their faith.
Unbelief is doubting or not believing what the Word of God says is true, and believing lies of the enemy. Even the disciples were not able to cast the demon out of the boy (the epileptic boy in Matthew 17:14-21). When they asked Jesus, “Why could we not cast it out?” Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief.”
Prayer
Jesus, please help me with my unbelief. I believe, Jesus, that you are the truth and the truth sets us free. I ask you, Jesus, to cleanse my mind, my will, and my emotions of any lies of the enemy I’ve believed, and I repent for all unbelief. I ask you, Jesus, to give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a mouth to speak your Word. I ask you, Jesus, for a gift of faith, the kind of faith that can move a mountain. Thank you, Jesus.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
