New Age is a practice in which it is believed that divine energy or enlightenment is achieved through a divine force that opens the person up to self-divinity and a supposed enlightenment or awakening. Many New Age practices are borrowed from Eastern religions such as Hinduism. Some examples are yoga, meditation, karma, reincarnation, opening of chakras, channeling, astral projection, psychics, the zodiac, astrology, numerology, reiki, and tarot cards.

In New Age practices, a divine universal force is believed to be within everyone, and that through these methods, one can open up to higher consciousness or enlightenment. New Age rejects the Christian doctrine of sin, repentance, salvation by Jesus, and divine judgment. The Bible prohibits many New Age beliefs: idol worship, divination, consulting spirits, and false teachings. Kundalini Awakening is a new-age practice in which it is believed that a coiled energy rises up the spine and reaches the head, allowing a fire serpent to activate and open chakras. This is believed to produce self-realization and a higher consciousness. Kundalini is considered a counterfeit or false version of the Holy Spirit, mimicking the move of the spirit but focusing on exaltation of self rather than following Jesus.
