Revelation 12:11 - "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death."

Your story is a God-given key. Like Paul before King Agrippa (Acts 26), learn to tell what your life was like before Christ, how you met Him, and the real difference He makes: clearly, honestly, in under three minutes, with the Gospel woven in and a question at the end that hands the conversation back. "Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear" (1 Peter 3:15).

Step-by-step blueprint

1 Before: My Life Before Christ

Before (Acts 26:4-11)

Paul began with his life before Christ: "Indeed, I myself thought I must do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth" (Acts 26:9).

  • Be honest, not glamorous. Name what you trusted in, chased, or feared, and why it didn't satisfy. One or two concrete details beat a long list.
  • Don't make sin the hero. Skip graphic "war stories". They entertain the flesh and make the past sound fun.
  • Show that you stood guilty before God, not just unhappy. This keeps your story from sounding like self-help.

Saved young? You still have a testimony. Timothy had known the Holy Scriptures "from childhood" (2 Timothy 3:15). Tell an "I've never known life without Him" testimony:

  • You were still a sinner who needed a Savior. Share when you first understood that.
  • Share when faith became your own: a question, a crisis, or a moment you chose to follow Jesus for yourself.
  • Share what He has kept you from. A kept life is a miracle of grace too.
  • Never invent or exaggerate a darker past to make the story more dramatic.

2 How: How I Met Jesus

How (Acts 26:12-18)

Paul told exactly how he met the risen Christ on the Damascus road (Acts 26:13-15) and what Jesus sent him to do: "to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins" (Acts 26:18).

  • Put the Gospel inside your story. What did you realize about your sin? What did you understand about Jesus' death and resurrection? How did you repent and put your trust in Him?
  • Name what God used: a person, a verse, a moment. But point to Jesus, not to the preacher or the event.
  • Be clear, not vague. Instead of "I just asked Jesus into my heart and everything clicked," explain in plain words what actually happened.
🗣️ On the street, say it like this"A friend asked me if I thought I was a good person. I said yes, until she went through the Ten Commandments with me and I realized I was guilty before God. Then she told me that Jesus took my punishment on the cross and rose from the dead. That night I turned from my sin and put my trust in Him."

3 After: The Real Difference

After (Acts 26:19-23)

Paul said, "Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision" (Acts 26:19). Meeting Jesus changed the direction of his whole life.

  • Share the real difference: forgiveness, peace with God, freedom from a specific habit or fear, a new love for people, purpose, and a hunger for God's Word.
  • Be honest. Life did not suddenly become perfect. You still face struggles, but you don't face them alone, and you are not the same person (2 Corinthians 5:17).
  • Don't promise what God didn't promise: wealth, ease, or a problem-free life.
🗣️ On the street, say it like this"I still have hard days, but I know I'm forgiven. I'm not afraid of dying anymore, and the need to impress everyone doesn't run my life. Jesus is changing me."

4 Delivery & Bridge: Hand It Back

Under 3 Minutes
  • Keep it under 3 minutes (roughly 350 to 450 words). Write it out, trim it, and practice it aloud until it sounds like you talking, not reciting.
  • No church jargon. Translate words like "saved", "washed in the blood", "sanctified", "backslid", and "altar call" into plain language, or explain them.
  • Stay gentle: "with meekness and fear" (1 Peter 3:15). It's a story, not a sermon.
  • End with a question that hands the conversation back. Paul turned from his story to the king: "King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets?" (Acts 26:27).
  • "Has anything like that ever happened to you?"
  • "Where are you at with God these days?"
  • "Would you consider yourself to be a good person?" (your bridge into the Way of the Master)
